I've been digging through our email statistics and the truth is, most people on our mailing list are not engaging with the weekly WordPress Wednesday newsletter we've been publishing.
And when I say “engaging”, I mean opening the email or clicking on links. That's right, our open rates and click through rates are not what they used to be.
Our open rate for 2017 is 16.85%, which is well below the industry benchmark for Media and Publishing of 22.14% and our click through rate is 2.5% versus 4.7% for our peers.
This makes me sad.
Our team puts a lot of effort into the weekly newsletter and it seems like it's not what you want. So, instead of getting all teary about it, I'd like your help to produce more of the stuff you want and less of the stuff you don't.
I want us to produce useful, helpful content that you want to engage with and share. So let's talk about video for a second.

We all love making videos here and we know that video is the most entertaining and engaging format of media on the internet.
The thing is, we're torn between publishing our videos as Facebook Live videos or as video blogs. They both have their pros and cons.
