Show Notes

Alex Vasquez is Founder of DigiSavvy, a full-service boutique WordPress agency. He is also one of the organizing leaders of WordCamp Los Angeles. In his words however he would say he just builds stuff people enjoy.

Growing up, Alex wanted to be a cage fighter because he wanted to take on the neighborhood bullies, plus he watched a lot of bad martial arts movies! While that particular career didn’t work out for him, he found WordPress along the way and that has made all the difference.

He discovered the internet in the late nineties when a friend asked if he could build him a website. While he knew how to build a computer, he had no idea how to build a website. But he pushed through and taught himself how to do it.

He became a systems administrator for several large insurance agencies, but always knew he wanted to go into business for himself. He continued to work side jobs building websites for folks and eventually got into online marketing and pay-per-click strategies.

Alex started his website work using Joomla but quickly realized how technical-intensive it was after clients kept asking him to make an update after update. That’s when he discovered WordPress and realized how much easier it made things for both him and his clients.

Eventually, he had enough side work to make the leap and start his design agency. One of the keys he learned in doing so is having your clients and potential clients get to know you personally, so they feel connected to you. People will only want to work with you if they enjoy you and feel a connection with you.

There is much more to this episode with Alex that you don’t want to miss, so be sure to tune in to hear it all!

Please join us in thanking Alex for being with us today, and thanks to you as well for joining us. We’ll see you next time on WP Elevation.
